The Big Garden Birdwatch is a project by the RSPB where they have asked people across the UK to watch the birds and wildlife in their garden or local park for an hour, and report back what they’ve seen. It started out as a small children’s activity in 1979 and has grown to over half a million taking part each year. The compiled results help the RSPB to find out what wildlife is in decline, and what’s thriving across the UK should the need come to take action to put things right.
This also, it means that over half a million people UK-wide are spending a relaxing hour with the birds and other wildlife in their garden.
