Nature Sign Design have been across the pond this month on a vacation/work trip. This photo was taken in Kernville California, and it is of the Rufous Hummingbird. Kernville is a small town in Northern California which was formed in 1858 during the gold rush and originally called Rogersville.

The Rufous Hummingbird is a small bird from the hummingbird Family. Is it characterised by its long, straight and slender beak, and are well known for their fierce nature. In fact the female Rufous Hummingbird has been documented attacking much larger hummingbirds, albeit not always successfully, that are up to double its own weight.
